We are a friendly, independent choir based at Ainsdale Village Church, Station Road, Ainsdale. We enjoy singing a variety of songs including items from musicals, films, TV programmes and many other genres.
Our Musical Director, Stewart Hankinson has many years of experience conducting choirs and teaching singing and music to private students. Over the last couple of years he has gained a further degree (MMus. in Performance) from Liverpool University to his long list of qualifications. Prior to lockdown Stewart had also begun teaching students at the University. Stewart has been with us for four years now and during that time has conducted and devised three Choral Workshops which have all been well attended and have been inspirational and instructive. The last workshop was held in October 2019 and was based around the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein. All the vocal exercises and practice included songs from their musicals and was a very enjoyable day. We do hope that when lockdown is over, Stewart will once again be able to hold a further Workshop.
Over the past few years we have also arranged three concerts per year. Stewart instigated our Spring Concerts which have been held at Ainsdale Village Church. Stewart has performed at most of these concerts either singing or playing piano/organ duets with our accompanist, Brenda Redmond. We also hold a Summer Concert, normally in July when refreshments are served and most of the entertainment is provided by the choir. Our Christmas concerts have been very popular for a number of years and again are held in the church.
If you would like to join us when we meet again, please do not hesitate to contact either Anne Hanley on 01704 571709 or Chris Theckston on 01704 871393 for further details. We do not require members to be able to read music, but this can be an advantage, nor do we hold auditions.
